Doctor in Medicine, First Degree Specialist in Ophthalmology in 1988 and Second Degree Specialist in 1992. MsC in Satisfactory Longevity and Collaborator of Professor Orfilio Peláez (1982 to 2001) in founding and developing the national program of Retinitis Pigmentosa continued by Dr. Copello.
Head of the ophthalmology service of Salvador Allende hospital and Head of national program of RP from 1990 to 2018 when she asked to be released from her executive responsibilities to fully devote herself to ozone therapy research and its application. Assistant and Consulting Professor at the University of Medical Sciences of Havana with Higher Education Diploma in 2010.
Dr. Copello has participated in 28 researches in application of ozone therapy and RP study with 38 publications, is coauthor of Guide for the Medical Use of Ozone and the book Advances of Ozone therapy in Medicine and Dentistry in Collaboration with Mark T Weiser.
She was speaker at 281 national events and 61 international events. Received 16 awards by different institutions but mainly from the Academy of Sciences of Cuba, 1993, for developing ozone applications in Cuba and application of ozone therapy in Retinitis Pigmentosa institutional award by CNIC, 1993.
Has participated in 57 national and 26 international courses. Has given 44 national and 39 international courses in ozone therapy applications in Ophthalmology, participating in 24 state exam committees of Ophthalmology of 1st degree and 15 of 2nd degree
Currently she belongs to 11 Scientific Societies. Honorary Doctor by 1997 resolution of the Ministry of Health. Member of the Cuban Society of Ophthalmology, Cuban Society of Retinitis Pigmentosa, International Scientific Committee of Ozone Therapy, Spain, Member of the Medical Association of the Caribbean and MEOF (Madrid), Honorary Member of Mexican Association of Oxidative Stress as well as Honorary Member of Medical Association of Ozone Therapy of Chile. Member of Team of Scientists that in 1988 carried out research work Ozone Applications in Retinitis Pigmentosa, defended before the Scientific Council of CNIC (relevant).
