"Advances of Ozone Therapy in Medicine & Dentistry"
Medical experts in the use of ozone for clinical use write a book detailing the clinical uses of ozone in the fields of medicine and dentistry. The book is billed to be introduced at the upcoming Frontiers in Ozone Meeting, November 3-5 2016. Pre-order your copy today!
From the Author: Dr. Menéndez
"Since the late 70´s I devoted myself to ozone’s basic aspects. But it was not until the 80´s that I am knowledgeable of ozone’s medical applications. This world has fascinated me since the beginning. The study of ozone’s mechanisms of action and its therapeutic possibilities has accompanied me over the past 30 years."
"Each day, I am amazed with ozone’s capacity to improve the quality of life of patients suffering from chronic diseases, most without a solution within allopathic medicine. The smile of a patient, no matter his/her age, when feeling recovered after an ozone therapy treatment is one of the greatest satisfactions I feel"
"It is the driving force that keeps me dedicated body and soul to scientific development of this therapeutic procedure".
"This book has been written in a scientific language, it can be read by scientists, physicians, dentists, as well as patients and readers that are looking for alternatives to treatment or prevention. It is a guide for bio-oxidative therapies that stimulate worldwide appreciation about the potential benefits of ozone therapy."
HIGHLIghts of the Book
The aim of this book is to give a clear idea about the ozone mechanism of action, as well as to understand what is known about ozone therapy and what new things we should try to learn about it. This therapeutic procedure has been always accompanied by a thick cloud of skepticism and incredulity. Since the mechanism of action of ozone is based on creating a controlled and transient oxidative stress and taking into account that the medical world is very concerned with the formation of free radicals, ozone therapy has been strongly rejected. For that reason we have been working for almost 30 years providing comprehensive information and clarifying the fundamental basis of ozone therapy by means of preclinical and clinical studies.
Ozone is able, after reacting with body fluids, to release several messengers that activate different mechanisms which can produce multiple biological effects. In 2008, we have written, in Spanish, a book entitled: Ozone. Basic aspects and clinical applications.
updates for 2016
Now, we have enriched that book with recent studies and also added a part about the use of ozone in Dentistry written by my research partner, Dr Mark T Weiser and some of his colleagues. Dentistry has adopted many uses of ozone in therapy and more and more applications are being tested every day.
This book, in English now, has two parts:
Use of Ozone in Medicine and Use of Ozone in Dentistry.
The first part has 18 chapters with topics like ozone characteristics, toxicological studies, mechanisms of action, ways of ozone application, ozone protective effect in liver, kidneys and during alcohol withdrawal syndrome, ozone clinical applications (in diabetes, retinitis pigmentosa, glaucoma, disk herniation, asthma, emphysema, osteoarthritis, cancer, vestibulocochlear syndrome, among others) and the use of ozonated vegetable oils.
Dentistry is referred to ozone in dental care.
The different modalities of the use of zone in Dentistry, the dental disease today, ozone and caries management, ozone in soft tissue lesions and injuries, in apthous ulceration, in gingivitis, ozone in periodontal disease, ozone in endodontics, integration of therapies, use of ozonated oil in Dentistry, among others.
About the authors
Dr. Silvia A. Menéndez, PhD in Chemistry, Full Researcher, Specialist in Ozone Therapy introduced ozone therapy in Cuba in 1986 and was Head of the OzoneClinic of the Ozone Research Center, belonging to the National Center for Scientific Research, until 2011 (for 25 years). Currently, she is coordinator of International and National Courses of Ozone Therapy. Dr. Menéndez is author of two patents, 2 medication registrations and a new therapeutic indication for ozonated sunflower oil, as well as of a book, chapters of books, and more than 50 articles, published in peer-reviewed journals for the past 15 years, all in the field of ozone therapy. She has supervised over 40 theses, imparted 58 national and international courses and participated in over 120 international scientific congresses with 253 research works, invited to countries, such as Spain, Italy, Austria, Germany, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Peru, USA, Barbados, Japan, Egypt and India to offer lectures. She has received several medals and international and national awards for her work deployed in the field of ozone therapy.
Dr. Mark T. Weiser, DDS, Fellow, Academy of Laser Dentistry, Fellow, Academy of American Ozone Therapy, was one of the first clinical ozone users in the USA, practicing with ozone now for over 15 years. He has attended over 26 post graduate courses and is an author or co-author of 5 different papers and books. Dr. Weiser has collaborated in several research articles on the use of ozone in dentistry in a clinical setting as well as ozone safety. He has lectured both in the USA and Internationally on the clinical uses of ozone in dentistry. Dr. Weiser has impart- ed over 16 international congresses and courses in places like Switzerland, Cuba, Spain, China, Brazil and Mexico. He organized and put on the recent International Ozone Conference held in Varadero, Cuba where he was President. Dr. Weiser continues research in collaboration with Dr. Silvia Menéndez and others in Cuba on effects and safety of ozone in a clinical setting.
